Whilst setting this clearly takes it out of its context within the poem as a whole, for me it stands on its own both as resonating with what I take to be Blake’s own authentic voice and through its sheer contemporary topicality.
The setting itself consists of a reading of the poem accompanied by electronically processed sounds and textures extracted solely from that reading which are designed to reinforce both the rhythms and the moods of the text. The original stereo file has been reduced here to an mp3.
